Where are you located and where can we pick up our mini camper?
We are located in Reykjavik and Egilsstadir.
You can pick up your mini camper at our office or we can pick you up at the airport for a reasonable fee.
Where and how will I return our mini camper?
You can return your mini camper at the following locations:
• Grand Iceland office in Reykjavik
• Grand Iceland office in Egilsstadir
If you need a shuttle service we offer that for a reasonable fee.
Do I need to return my mini camper with a full tank?
Yes, you get your mini camper with a full tank and you need to return it with a full tank.
How old do I need to be to rent a mini camper in Iceland?
You need to be 20 years or older and have held a valid driver's license for one year to rent a mini camper at Grand Iceland.
What documents are needed to rent a mini camper?
a) All drivers need to have held a valid drivers licence for at least 1 year and an International Driving Permit (IDP) / International Driving License (IDL) is also required if the national driver’s license is not in the Roman script.
b) Your passport will also be required according to Icelandic law for car rentals. c) Your valid credit card with an expiry date after the due check-in date. We accept all major credit cards such as Visa, Mastercard or American Express credit cards.
Do I have to pay in advance when booking online?
Yes, with a credit card you need to pay a confirmation fee which is 20% of the total rental amount. The rest you will pay upon arrival at our office.
Can I pay all the rental amount in advance when booking online?
Yes, if you want to pay all the amount right away please contact us for further information.
Is it possible to modify / cancel my reservation after it is confirmed? Yes, we allow you to modify or cancel your reservation after it is confirmed, see detailed information in our Rental Agreement under Terms & Conditions. You simply need to send us an email or give us a call and we will assist you. For changes to reservations made with a travel agent or online booking agent, please contact the relevant agent.
Can I book additional extras or equipment?
Yes, you can book additional extras online. They involve extra cost and are subject to availability.
What is included in the rental price of my mini camper?
The rental price includes unlimited kilometers, 24% VAT tax, Collision Damage Waiver (CDW), solar panel and a webasto diesel heater, bedding (including pillows, duvets, sheet and a blanket), kitchen facilities inside with a sink with a running water and all necessary cookware and tableware, cooler and a gas stove. In other words, basically everything you need to cook, eat and sleep in the mini camper. Please review terms & conditions before booking a rental car and take a look at the Extras section on our website for additional amenities.
Do I need to check the condition of my mini camper prior leaving the location?
Yes, you have to check that the vehicle condition report reflects the actual vehicle condition. If an apparent defect is not listed, please proceed to a joint examination of the vehicle with our employee, in order to update the rental agreement.
Can I return my mini camper outside the location opening hours?
Yes, you may return your mini camper when the location is closed, but when picking it up, please ask if a key return box is available at the check-in station. CAUTION: The mini camper will remain your responsibility until it has been checked by our representative.
What happens if I return the mini camper late?
In most cases, our rates are daily rates where a day is considered as 24 hours, counted from the time the rental starts. If you return the car late, your rate will be recalculated, adding an extra day for each additional 24 hours you have kept the car. Each 24 hour period started, counts as a whole rental day.
Can I get a refund if I return the mini camper early?
No, refunds are not given for returning the mini camper early.
What happens if the car breaks down?
You give us a call at our 24/7 break down emergency number +(354) 864-6422 and we will help you find a solution to your problem. If the mini camper needs a repair we will guide you to the nearest workshop. Our employee will be in contact with you until the problem is solved. It might happen that we have to replace your mini camper, but with our maintenance policy we have never experienced a break down and we aim to keep it that way.
