In order to guarantee your booking we require a valid credit card number and expiry date. Also we require a valid email address.
Our booking system will let you know right away if there is a vehicle available.
If you don‘t find a vehicle on requested time please contact us for information.
We will confirm the booking request via email within 24 hours.
All rentals are subject to the full rental agreement terms and conditions at the time of rental. When you book on our webpage you will pay 20% confirmation fee (deposit). You can pay the remaining when you pick up the vehicle with Visa, Mastercard or American Express credit cards. If you want to pay all the amount right away please contact us for further information. A credit card imprint will be taken at the start of all rentals for security reasons, even when a voucher covers the cost of the rental. This credit card imprint may be used to pay all extra charges as extra insurance, parking fines, tank refill, damages or any cost incurred regarding the rented vehicle.
Note: we will always need a credit card for insurance.
Reservations made on our website:
All cancellations must be made by e-mail or phone. In case of a cancellation, GRAND ICELAND charges the following cancellations fees from your credit card (calculated of the total rental amount):
More than 4 weeks prior to rental start: Only the 20% confirmation fee.
Less than 4 weeks and more than 72 hours: 50%
Less than 72 hours and more than 24 hours: 75%
Less than 24 hours notice (including no-show): 100% (no-refund)
Reservations made with a travel agent or online booking agent:
The travel agency or online booking agent “owns” any reservation you originally made with them, so their reservation cancellation processes and policies apply.
Age Restrictions and Drivers License
Minimum age is 20 years for individual rental. All drivers need to have held a valid drivers licence for at least 1 year and an International Driving Permit (IDP) / International Driving License (IDL) is also required if the national driver’s license is not in the Roman script.
The minimum rental period at GRAND ICELAND is 3 days – 72 hours. When drop-off is one hour or more after the pick-up time, it is regarded as a full day.
All cars are rented out with a full tank. If the car is not returned with a full tank a fuel filling charge ISK 15,000.- applies, debited to the credit card provided on the rental agreement. Discount fuel cards are complimentary with every rental.
Damage, theft, rescues and accidents
In the event of a car breakdown, theft or major accident GRAND ICELAND main number +354-864-6422 (available 24/7) must be contacted immediately. Transporting a damaged car costs EUR 2.80,- per km for the renter. For a transportation/handling of an damaged vehicle there is always a minimum cost of EUR 400,- which the renter must cover. In the case of an emergency the renter is liable for all rescue cost that might be charged to GRAND ICELAND by a third party. For further details see Rental Agreement.
Damages include all damage inflicted on the vehicle during rental related to the usage of the car or accidents that are not vehicle malfunctions. That includes broken axles, drive shafts, clutches, transmission, drive or any other damage caused by improper use or rough driving. For further details see Rental Agreement.
Cost of damage
Damages are generally payable at the end of the rental. However, if a car so badly damaged that it has to be replaced, GRAND ICELAND asks for settlement of the damage before a replacement vehicle will be provided. For further details see Rental Agreement.
Replacing a damaged vehicle with another vehicle is subject to availability. Sometimes replacing the damaged vehicle with the same type is not possible. Such action by GRAND ICELAND does not constitute a breach of contract and does not entitle the Lessee to any refund. If no alternative vehicle is available, GRAND ICELAND has no liability for refund any cost inferred by the renter. A replacement vehicle will not be provided before the damage of the old car has been settled. For further details see Rental Agreement.
The seller promises the purchaser as confidential all information he gives up in connection with the transaction. Information will not under any circumstances to third parties.
Law and venue
This agreement is in accordance with Icelandic legislation.
